Subaru Forester FB25 2.5 to FB20 2.0 Engine Swap Cheap Option To Fix Your Car Legacy Outback Imprez

Subaru FB25 engines are absurdly expensive. swapping to an FB20 is cheap way to get you out of a bind and get your car on the road again. it is almost a direct drop in, just swap your old flywheel, fuel injectors, intake, engine wiring harness over and it drops right it. you may also have to swap motor mounts if yours are a different type. If your car is an automatic trans it will have noticeably less power after this swap. a manual trans is much better. again this is it a trade off - you lose horsepower but save alot of money. power loss can be mitigated by either getting a custom tune or leaving the intake cam phasers disconnected - the later will cause a check engine light, but give much better power, what we did was just get car emission tested and then unplug them after it passed and said screw the light or you can put a piece of black tape over it. the FB20s very rarely have issues and the interchange says they will only fit Impreza and Crosstrek, so the junkyards never sell...
