Ah, it&that no --good woman from Málaga again! She sure is popular:-) Domingo also recorded this, but I personally prefer the French Alagna to the Spanish Domingo, even though it&a Spanish song. The reason? I think that Alagna, who started out life singing in cafés and restaurants, still has a lot of the pop singer in his heart, whereas Domingo is, I think, always a classical singer at heart. Both are fine! No problem! The real star of this kind of music, of course, is a real cowboy singer like Miguel Aceves Mejía. In any case, Alagna has been having a lot of fun lately singing lighter music, which is fine—a long-standing European tradition, going back to the earlier part of the century. I think of Jan Kiepura and others; opera, show business, operetta, musical comedy, movies, radio singing, you name it. And after all, why not? Music is music, singing is singing; there is a real bottom line, and that is what people will lay down their hard-earned money to go out and hear. That&as basic as it gets, and Alagna can do it all, very well in fact!
