A tube amp at low volume or a popular modeller like Yamaha THR or Blackstar Fly3? Some say that a tube amp can´t deliver on really low volume. Is it true? Well, it depends. Many tube amps needs pedals to sound good at bedroom volume. But some actually works as long as you stay with more or less clean sound. Harley Benton Tube 15 (Monoprice Stage Right in north America) is a cheap tube amp that delivers on high volume (nice Vox/Marshall-tone) and Yamaha THR and Blackstar Fly3 delivers at low volume. They are great when jamming to a backing track. But in fact - in the room the feel and sound from the cheap tube amp was better. Even at low volume. Of course the built in effects and stereo in a THR is an advantage, but the sound... good but not up to the warmth, feel and fullness of the tube amp. The small amps are more portable but the Tube 15 is only 11,5 kg. And cheaper than a new Yamaha THR (which I suppose have better build quality)
