This is a belated request video for, 4DAwzomBroz, who wanted to know how the Nintendo 64 would look with his SCART to HDMI scaler. This is a... long and complicated subject. Unlike its predecessor, the N64 doesn&support RGB SCART. Only composite AV or S-video. And then it¬ clear cut. All NTSC models support S-video, while in PAL regions (except France) only the original charcoal grey consoles supported S-video. This functionality was removed completely from later PAL models. If that weren&bad enough, the pins on the multi-out port are wired up differently between regions and Nintendo only released S-video cables in NTSC regions. For PAL users, you need a shielded custom cable that was specifically made for a PAL console. S-video generally does do a good job of producing a sharper picture than composite. But even the best S-video cables are at the mercy of your scaler. The Nintendo 64 struggles running at a perfect 25 or 30 frames per second when there are a lot of polygons...
