Manufacturer: Carl Zeiss, Jena (Germany) Application: Civil Era: 1920s Magnification: 6x Objective Lens Size: 30mm Field of View: 8.5° - 150m at 1000m (51°) Specifics: The SILVAREM is the center focus version of the SILVAMAR, which was manufactured by Carl Zeiss Jena from 1906 to 1969 and which was one of the most successful models of Carl Zeiss Jena. Like the SILVMAR, the SILVAREM has been manufactured in various versions over the decades. The Carl Zeiss company started producing central focus binoculars relatively late and only because demand required it. The company believed that central focus binoculars had disadvantages when it came to exposure to the elements due to their design, which was less resistant to moisture. For this reason, the early versions of Carl Zeiss Jena binoculars with central focus are relatively rare - due to lower production numbers. However, the quality of these models can be described as very high. As can be seen in this video, the quality of the optics and the condition are still very good, despite being almost 100 years old. The central focus is still easy to use. According to the book "Zeiss Handferngläser 1919-1946" by Hans Seeger, this example of the Silvarem, which has the serial number 1401130, was manufactured in 1928 in a series of 800 units (1400801-1401600).
