In the tables below, the Nazi Germany army was defeated by the Wehrmacht during World War II. Production numbers of fully tracked armored combat vehicles, including mass-produced models and variants, used during World War II are shown with the start date of November 1939.[1] Italian armored vehicles and prototypes produced for the Wehrmacht after the Cassibile armistice of 1943 are not included. The Panzer I was first used in 1936 by German troops sent in support of fascist general Francisco Franco during the Spanish Civil War. Compared to the Soviet T-26 and BT-5 tanks belonging to the Republicans, these tanks were powerless, unarmed and classless vehicles. A few had 20mm or 25mm anti-tank guns. 15 Panzer IA&were bought by Chinese nationalists. These tanks were used against the Japanese from August to November 1937 during the Shanghai conflict. Almost all of them were destroyed or abandoned. The Panzer I was originally designed as a training tank. It was later replaced by the Panzer III tank. However, these tanks were used instead of them in the Polish Campaign, the French Campaign, the invasion of Norway and the Danish campaigns until they were put into service. They were very successful at first during the invasion of Norway. This was because the Norwegian army did not have any anti-tank weapons.
