How To Check Toyota 4Runner 5 spd Automatic Transmission Fluid Level

Do you have a 2002-2005 Toyota 4Runner with a 5 speed automatic transmission needing service or fluid level inspection? To check level, vehicle and transmission must be level. With transmission fluid warmed to 115° to 133° F (46° to 56° C) and engine idling, remove the overflow plug and gasket. The level is correct when fluid trickles from the overflow tube. To add fluid to transmission, remove the refill plug and gasket. Add specified fluid until fluid trickles from the overflow tube. Install overflow plug with a new gasket; tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm). Stop engine. Install refill plug with a new gasket; tighten to 29 ft. lbs. (39 Nm). Watch this video for more information.
