Today we take a look at this epic blues guitar solo from Gary Moore that many guitarists want to learn! The main theme in the fist two choruses is quiet easy to learn, is simple and very melodically related to the chords; try to add a great vibrato to make those long notes sing or scream! From the third chorus starts what we can more properly call "the solo" and Gary begins to be less "tied" to tempo with sudden accelerations or slowdowns that increase the emotional emphasis. We call this rhythmic approach "rubato": you have to play like tempo is more "elestic" and it might make things easier for you. It is more difficult to write these parts on the score because the rhythmic writing does not match exactly with the interpretation given by the rubato, this would involve 11 note groups, 13 note groups and similar groupings and Guitar Pro doesn&work very well with these groups so I had to write a rhythm as similar as possible with points and more regular division. Anyway this is just a writing problem, to play it you don&have to worry for nothing of that! What you have to do with the runs you find in bars 24, 33, 35, 38, 40, 46 or 68 is to learn very well all the sequence and when it starts, then start a tempo, push all notes playing as fast as you can and try to end end in the right moment making scream the last note! Similarly for the slowing down phrases such as the one that starts at the end of bar 28, you have to slow down, "feel" the tempo and give emotional enphasis!
