Deathtrack (1989) - PC Futuristic Racing Games

Deathtrack by Dynamix/Activision, 1989. Racing and shooting through future USA. 10 track racing game with full storyline, vehicle upgrades and weapons. Here&a quick spin through one lap of each track in the game using the base three vehicles, without upgrades (hence me being rather left behind!). EGA graphics and Adlib audio are used. The game does support Roland MT-32 for MIDI music, but the music sounds a bit piano-heavy and not dark enough for the subject matter! The frame rate is a bit awkward; it&tied to the PC processor speed though, so can run really fast when few rival cars are on screen, but jerky at the start of races. This game spawned a sequel, Death Track: Resurrection, in 2008. We&look at that eventually...
