this video shows methods of troubleshooting a radiator fan on a HONDA CIVIC 93&I apologize for it may be hard to understand some of my words. Steps I used to troubleshoot: 1) connect cooling fan directly to battery 2) test relay by shorting out the cooling fan switch with a paperclip 3) replace cooling fan switch NOTE: If upper radiator hose is flattened, the problem may reside in the thermostat 4) replace thermostat NOTE: this step may be performed first. check for a flattened upper radiator hose. My cooling fan switch and thermostat were both bad. I switched them both and my cooling fan began working properly. AIR POCKET NOTE: Make sure there is no AIR in cooling system. Air pockets near the switch or thermostat may hinder their operation by not allowing the devices to achieve the operating temperature. Air pockets near these parts can also prevent them from turning on resulting in overheating.
