Removing and Cleaning the VVT Solenoid - Nissan Micra K12

How to remove, clean and replace the Variable Valve Timing (VVT) solenoid on a 2003 to 2010 Nissan Micra K12 with the 1.0 litre petrol engine. If this unit gets clogged up or stops working properly it can cause problems like rough idling, engine RPM fluctuations, reduced mileage or even more serious problems. You may also get a check engine light caused by a P0011 code. It’s worth cleaning this solenoid first, to see if it will fix the issue. I would recommend cleaning it with EGR & Carb cleaner.
