Sapphire RX580 - Thermal Pads: What size to use? Explained

I purchased a used Sapphire RX580 Nitro and wanted to change the thermal paste and pads. I purchased some off Amazon and they weren’t the right thickness which created a gap where the heatsink couldn’t make contact. Sapphire used 0.75mm pads which has been confirmed by their spec sheet. The issue I encountered and others may encounter is that 0.75mm pads aren’t common and 1mm pads are too thick. I’ve read top quality 1mm pads squish, but the ones I had were quite rigid and wouldn’t. In the end I used 0.5mm pads and it worked.
