Montgomery Clift Tribute/The Big Lift/If I Can't Have You

Montgomery Clift, starring in "The Big Lift", (a public domain movie), portrays an Air Force engineer, serving during the Berlin Air Lift, shortly after World War ll. Clift loved playing soldiers, but was destined never to be one because of his 4-F classification due to severe, recurring colitis. Kirk Douglas was discharged from the military for the exact same reason (acquired during service). In "The Big Lift", Clift is a shining example, conscientious, good-natured, intelligently fulfilling his duties, though his pursuit of a German civilian,played effectively by Cornell Borchers, leads him into myriad predicaments. The selected scenes compliment the romantic song "If I Can&Have You".
