I decided not to wait for my rotor/stator to become a grenade inside my 2012 Yamaha FZ1. I have about 13k miles, and no signs of any issues. I bought my FZ1 in 2014, so the updated Yamaha OEM rotor that came out on the 2015 FZ1 had not been interfaced or available for purchase yet, so I knew my FZ1 was a ticking time bomb. These FZ1&can do 80k+ miles, why ruin it over something this trivial? Maybe you&scared to do the job yourself. *Did you know the 2011-2013 FZ8 and 2004-2008 R1 are also affected? Here&the thing: 1. It&technically not a very technical job, it may sound scary, but my video shows everything you need to do the job. 2. If you already got sticker shock over the OEM Yamaha rotor rebuild at $639 MSRP, you may have walked away without realizing an aftermarket company called RMStator has a replacement for only $199. Honestly, I&rather give RMStator my money because they solved an issue anyone would have on an FZ1 of overpaying Yamaha for something that Yamaha should have done a recall on for us in the 1st place. Yamaha doesn&deserve my rotor money! 3. And last but not least, if you caught my posts on the FB FZ1 groups, Amazon has a deal still going on as of 4/9/22 that you can get $40 off, plus am additional 15% off if you buy more than 1 part at the same time from RMStator. You&going to need to buy 2 parts; the rotor and the replacement gasket, cause that gasket isn&going to be reusable! So now you can get both the replacement rotor and the gasket to do this job...
