Mercedes-Benz Viano / Vito - How to replace the outside mirrors | W639

The Viano and Vito have had identical outside mirrors since the September 2009 model series. Removal of the outside mirrors is explained here based on a Viano. Remove the key. Wear safety glasses and safety gloves to remove the mirror glass. Fold the outside mirror all the way out and press the mirror glass downwards. Unclip the mirror glass and disconnect the connector of the mirror heater. Release the two retaining clips to disassemble the mirror cap. Note regarding connector of additional turn signal lamp: If only the mirror cap is replaced e.g. due to paint damage, ... ... the additional turn signal lamp must be removed. Remove the 2 screws which attach the additional turn signal lamp to the mirror cap. Unclip the two catch hooks. Release the connector. The mirror cap can now be replaced without problem. To remove the door panel, start at the door handle. Remove the 3 screws at the bottom of the door panel. Remove the entrance lamp. The door panel can now be detached. Expose the wiring harness of the mirror. Disconnect the 3 connectors. Note: During installation, make sure that the wiring harness is correctly positioned. Place the wiring harness behind the window guide rail. Remove part of the door lining to fully detach the wiring harness. This creates access to the cable tie.
