Песня была написана Дейвом Митчеллом, американским радиоведущим, который работал на Острове Вознесения. Его попросили написать песню для сентленцев, местных жителей. Вначале у него не было желания писать, так как плохо знал остров. Однако изучив фотографии острова в течение нескольких дней, он написал её.
