Angelika & Erich Buck - 1971 European Figure Skating Championships FD

Before Torvill & Dean came along, Betty Callaway was already established as one of the top ice dance coaches in Europe. In the early 1970&she guided the West German brother and sister team of Angelica & Erich Buck to four World medals and a shock European title in 1972 where they beat Pakhomova & Gorshkov for the title in one of ice dancing&biggest upsets. They were well known for their highlights, including the underarm travelling broken leg sit spin and were recently the subject of a retrospective on the wonderful history blog Skateguard: The commentator is Dr Eva Pawlik of Austria; the 1948 Olympic silver medallist, 1949 European champion and the first female skater to become a commentator.
