EVH King forever. I can give you three tips, guys: 1) it&a forearm rotation movement, and it has to be as relaxed as it can be. It¬ like the usual tremolo we do with our arm. In that case we use the muscles of our arm and they tense up to reach that pick speed we need for the tremolo effect, right? Whereas with the EVH tremolo you have to do the opposit: relax relax relax. The sensation i have when i do it is... almost as my forearm moves by itself, you know what i mean? It¬ a rigid movement like any other picking technique, like for example alternate picking. The analogy that comes to mind is a pendulum: you give it a little push, and then it goes from there, all by itself. Kind of the same thing. It&more of a nerve movement rather than a muscle one, you know? So, first tip is RELAX RELAX RELAX. Second tip (at least this works for me): 2) find the right inclination for your pick. What i do is i bend my thumb a little so my pick is not parallel to the string. About 45 degrees oughtta do it. Eddie doesn&do that. It seems to me he keeps it pretty much straight, but i can&do it that way. So this may work for you as well. 3) Pick thickness. I¤tly using Dunlop John Petrucci Jazz III picks. They are heavy picks (1.5) and they are small. In the video i&using a Fender Heavy pick (1.0). I think it works best with a heavy pick, but then again, Eddie uses a 0.6 nylon pick (to my knowledge), so... you have to try and find the one that works for you. There you go. I...
