The Chicago Transit Authority is the debut studio album by rock group Chicago (previously known as The Chicago Transit Authority.) It was recorded and released in 1969. Chicago was nominated for a Grammy award (best new artist of the year) for this album. The album was produced by James Guercio on Colombia CBS Records. The Album was certified 2x Plarinum by the RIAA. Chicago had to record this album in 2 weeks, and they needed to have enough material for a double album. They came out of the studio 5 days later with songs recorded. Walt Parzaider said "Well it&the best we got, and if it doesn&work, then we will go with it."
