Tippling Tidbits
English Afternoon Tea is a pleasure to have a tête-à-tête with a good social companion or for business entertainment with your dignitaries. The custom of afternoon tea came about as a necessity to fill a hunger gap for Dutchess of Bedford, Anna Maria Russell, a lifelong friend of Queen Victoria. In the previous centuries, dinner was served at 8pm or even later, hence her butler would prepare some sandwiches, pastries and scones as afternoon delights for her and her high society friends in her chamber between 4pm to 7pm. The heritage afternoon tea became a popular tradition in Great Britain. Singapore was once a British colony existed from 1946 to 1963. English Afternoon tea had marked its colonial influences since then. Today, nostalgia heritage and traditions are what attract tourists, and if the local hotels can merge our colonial past into the present modern repertoire, it will appeal to tourists who are always seeking for authentic, local experiences and cultures in the lion city. To add to that, there aren’t many sites that can lay authentic claim to Singapore’s heritage. We bring you to Goodwood Park Hotel’s tower block to experience a historic culture and how this tradition has evolved into today&entertaining norm. This Heritage Clip is brought to you by and endorsed by Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth. Join Ms Agnes Koh, Founder and Director of Etiquette & Image International as she shared this short clip on how to dine with poised, build confidence...
