STEELDIVE 62MAS BRONZE - HOMAGE TO THE OG SEIKO DIVER | SD1962S The SD1962 pays tribute to the 62MAS, the watch that would influence production of Seiko diver watches for 55 years. Launched in 1965, it’s is known in the collecting community as the 62MAS – MAS being an acronym for “autoMAtic Selfdater” (an automatic movement with date). Many of the 62MAS design elements; hands, bezel, shape case, indexes still influence several of today’s Seiko Prospex Diver’s watches. Simple, minimalist, and efficient, the 62MAS has a classic ‘skin-diver’ case with a non-protected oversized crown at 3 o’clock for a sleek, retro feel. It may be a 42mm watch, but with a lug to lug size of only 48mm, it’s compact, short on the wrist and well-balanced.
