ROLAND MOBILE AC Acoustic Amp Demo – FIELDS OF GOLD

I decided to try using all the inputs of the Roland Mobile AC as a battery operated mini-sound system: my acoustic in the GUITAR input, a Shure PG81 condenser in the MIC input, and my Electro-Harmonix MEL9 "keyboard pad" pedal in the AUDIO input (all with separate level controls). I&using the AC&global reverb and the chorus effect on guitar, and I was impressed at how well it all balanced out in tone and levels. The MEL9 – which is hanging on the back of the music stand – is providing a CELLO pad on the guitar to add some subtle density and sustain. You don¬ice it on this song until the end as it sustains into the fade-out. While the MEL9&DRY output feeds the guitar to its amp input, the EFFECT output goes to the AUDIO input for discreet control of its level which can be adjusted for different songs. (NOTE: The MEL9 has no battery option, but I rigged up a 9V battery case with power plug and found it could run about 5 hours on an alkaline battery.) Though I put a mic on the Roland amp for recording direct, I ended up staying with the camcorder mic since it was more representative of the "live" sound (even as low-tech audio). At least you get an idea of the capability of this little amp for a small gathering of people, indoors or out. This is my guitar arrangement of FIELDS OF GOLD in the key of D (with the low E-string tuned down to D), but I own no rights to this song.
