Where the current Lavida is built on the PQ34 platform debuted on the Mk4 Golf and Mk1 Audi A3, the new Plus rides on the latest MQB architecture which underpins everything from the new Volkswagen Golf and Polo to the Tiguan and Passat. Along with a 65mm increase in body length, the car has a 78mm longer wheelbase for improved passenger space. According to CarNewsChina, the sedan will be powered by three petrol engines: a 116hp (87kW) 1.5-liter, a 116hp (87kW) 1.2-liter turbo, and a 150hp (112kW) 1.4-liter turbo mated to a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic.
