VW DSG gear shift knob replacement (Golf Passat Jetta)

How to replace shifter on a DSG transmission in Volkswagen cars. I&got this set of replacement parts from Banggood to install in Golf MK7 (5G) instead of the standard leather finish. This option using red inserts, more aluminiom and less leather. It matches GTI interior better than the stock one. ℹ️ is fairly easy, as seen in this tutorial. First you need to pry the top cover from underneath. It will pop up. Then each side is held by 4 mounting points. 3 of them are easy to access, the 4th one is little bit tricky. I&used long sharp tool to pry the 4th mount. Removing second half of the shifter knob is easier as the 4th mount is now accessible. ⚠️ Mounting points on the side cover are fragile can break when disassembling the shifter. Especially if you are working in cold weather plastics tend to break more easily. ℹ️ Installing the new part is as easy as positioning it in the right spot and pressing into place until you hear all mounting points click.
