SCHRADE USA KNIFE COMPANY HISTORY 100+ Years 1892-1893 George Schrade patents an "Improved switchblade with its release button in the bolster". He then forms the "Press Button Knife Company" 1902 E.C. Simmons buys the "Walden Knife Company" 1903 George Schrade sells "Press Button Knife Company" to "Walden Knife Company". 1904 George Schrade and brothers Louis and William, form "Schrade Cutlery Company". 1923 After World War 1 E.C. Simmons sells "Walden Knife Company" to "Winchester" who has empty factory space after the war, for cutlery production. 1924? (best guess) "Schrade Cutlery Company" buys "Walden Knife Company" property from "Winchester". 1946 Albert Baer (under "Kingston Cutlery Company") buys "Schrade Cutlery Company" and renames it "Schrade Walden Cutlery Corporation" (a later division of "Imperial Knife Associated Companies Group"). 1958 Moved from Walden, New York to Ellenville, New York after a fire in the Walden factory. 1959 Schrades "Old Timer" line was introduced. 1967 The "Uncle Henry" line was introduced. 1985 Changed company name to "Imerial Schrade Corporation". 2004 Celebrated their 100 year anniversary. The last year of U.S.A. production as the Ellenville factory closes and the Schrade name was purchased by "Taylor Brands LLC" who continued making knives. overseas. 2016 "Smith and Wesson" to purchase "Taylor Brands".
