How to design and test a pintle rocket engine injector!

Watch the progression of pintle injector designs and tests that we performed over summer 2021. Our first rocket engine prototype used a unlike-impinging element flat-face injector, but we are switching to a pintle injector for our next prototype. Our strategy was to use a resin 3d printer to prototype low-cost pintle injector designs and test them using water as a substitute for kerosene/lox propellants, then capture slow-motion video of each test, and make changes on the next iteration to improve on the overall spray characteristics.
