I wish that Lily James&Lavender&Blue (Dilly Dilly) version was part of the original live-action soundtrack for Cinderella. Her rendition has a melancholic sweetness to it that is hard to match. This was her first time singing in a movie - she then went on to sing in Mama Mia (Here we go again). Lily did a fantastic job with the Cinderella character. The song presented numerous challenges adapting it to the movie. I chose fast cuts as it best lent itself to the flow of the songs, especially at the end when Cinderella gets locked away by her Evil Stepmother and the King appears to hasten the attempts to find the mystery princess. Near the end of the movie, she sings this lullaby as she sits in her room in the attic as the Archduke and his men arrive to see whether any females can fit into the magical glass slipper that was left by a mysterious princess at the Royal Ball. Locked away in her attic dungeon by her Evil Stepmother, Cinderella wistfully pines away for a different reality. After the Evil Stepsisters fail to fit into the shoe, the King&envoys are about to depart when they hear a female voice singing a song from the attic. The Evil Stepmother attempts to brush it off and the Archduke is about to depart when the King in disguise reveals himself and insists that they find out where this voice is coming from. Cinderella is revealed to be the owner of the magical glass slipper. She and the King depart leaving the Evil Stepmother to her fate. All rights to Disney...
