New 2022 Nissan X Trail: Off Road 4WD Performance The large SUV is set to go on sale in Europe early next year and will be powered by Nissan’s e-Power hybrid powertrain from launch. Nissan is giving its biggest SUV a bold and chunkier new look with angular styling that’s partly inspired by the latest Juke and Qashqai. There are narrow headlight units with daytime running lights for the first time, along with a new V-Motion grille. Around the back is a little more similar to the current model but the rear lights take on a shallow, more angular shape and the rear end looks boxier than the X-Trail you can buy now. The bumper gets a big silver insert and there’s a contrasting roof. Nissan says the four-wheel-drive version will give the new X-Trail “rugged versatility”, thanks to improved off-road ability.
