2023 Peugeot 408X in-depth Walkaround Peugeot introduces the 408X as a fresh addition to its compact car lineup, which already includes the conventional Peugeot 308 hatchback and Peugeot 3008 SUV. What sets the 408X apart is its innovative fastback design, bringing a new aesthetic to the range. Initially, Peugeot offers two plug-in hybrid powertrain options for the 408X. Both variations are front-wheel drive, equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and feature an electric motor producing 109 horsepower (81 kilowatts). However, what distinguishes them is the 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, which comes in different states of tune: 150 and 180 horsepower. Combining the power of the combustion engine and electric motor, the lower-spec plug-in hybrid delivers 180 horsepower (133 kW) and 360 Newton-meters (265 pound-feet) of torque. The more powerful variant increases the horsepower to 225 (165 kW) while maintaining the same torque. Built on the EMP2 modular platform shared with the 308, the 408X showcases impressive dimensions. With a length of 4690mm and a height of 1480mm, it surpasses the 308 by a significant margin, being 440mm longer and almost 40mm taller.
