Part 2 of this comparison video of 2 models of the same guitar separated by 60 years! I use a Fender Twin Reverb clean and a Benson Preamp to go through a few chord passages and single note lines to try and tease out any differences 60 years make. I have a Rode NT1-A and an SM57 just off the centre of the cone on one speaker and about 10" away. No processing or plug ins were used and the recorded signal went straight into a Presonus Studio 68C and then Studio One. I edited with Sony Vegas. Does &wood&impart a tonal majesty? Is an old guitar just an unplayable old wreck? Is a new guitar just a production line copy lacking the soul of the original? Interesting questions and it&hard to hide from a Twin Reverb set at 4 with just a touch of reverb. See what you think. Listen on headphones or good speakers and at 1080p for the full effect. 00:00 Intro 00:29 Clean arpeggio original 1959 01:23 Clean arpeggio 2019 re-issue 02:17 single note original 1959 03:01 single note 2019 re-issue 03:42 chords original 1959 04:42 chords 2019 re-issue 05:40 volume backed off slightly original 1959 06:25 volume backed off slightly 2019 re-issue 07:09 Benson preamp original 1959 07:51 Benson preamp 2019 re-issue 08:45 Benson preamp chords original 1959 09:50 Benson preamp chords 2019 re-issue 10:43 Benson stabby riff original 1959 11:40 Benson stabby riff 2019 re-issue 12:28 1959 Gibson Les Paul Junior rocks out! 13:43 2019 Gibson custom shop 1958 re-issue keeps up with the oldie!
