This 1843 composed "Polka - Elena" with nice "umpa dumpa" bass was a nice little musical snack and I hope you also enjoy it. I came across this by actively looking for russian composers I haven&featured on this channel so far, and indeed, Borodin is one of them. A good reason might be, that he just hasn&composed terribly much for piano. There is this suite, where especially the Nocturne gets played a lot - I might do a score video for that one too, the pieces don&seem to be so difficult. The dynamics could be probably a bit more contrastful, but all in all I am happy with this. Some more facts about this piece: Apparently, this was for piano solo first , but later arranged for piano 4 hands by Borodin. Imslp says "written in 1843 when the composer was 9 years old, revised and transcribed for 4 hands by the composer in 1861." Also as always, I just played both voices and aligned the 2 recordings a bit on a couple of places. I always play with a metronome and this is kind of a lot more difficult than it should be. I have respect for drummers! Alexander Borodin (1833 – 1887)was a Russian chemist and Romantic musical composer of Georgian ancestry. He was one of the prominent 19th-century composers known as "The Mighty Handful", a group dedicated to producing a uniquely Russian kind of classical music, rather than imitating earlier Western European models. Borodin is known best for his symphonies, his two string quartets, the symphonic poem In the Steppes of Central Asia...
