Read the full description below on how to fix! :) Here we have an Opel Zafira-B, but any Opel engine with Z16XEP motorcode may display this fault code P1113: "Port deactivation sensor signal low". What does this mean? The port deactivation system has flaps in the intake manifold channels which are controlled by a vacuum operated solenoid. It also has a sensor, that reads the voltage to see in what position the flaps currently are. This is a 5 Volt operated sensor, and it wants to see at least 0,5 Volts or more when it is not operated, or in "rest" position (key on, not running). When it is below 0,5 volts in that situation it will throw the code P1113. Due to wear in the system it may drop below 0,5 Volts. Usually this means you have to do a very expensive repair, complete intake manifold including the port deactivation system. However we can fool the system, by placing a hard stop where the flap operating rod rests. I chose to put a little bracket below the outer manifold bolt, such that it makes the port deactivation sensor read a little over 0,5 Volts in rest position (0,7 V in my case). You will have to read the sensor signal with appropriate diagnostic tools to make this adjustment. We are fooling the computer into thinking the position of the flaps is correct. Use this information at your own risk! I take no responsibility for any damages that may occur.
