How to Grow Rhododendron ‘Bloombux’, Bloombux, Growing Rhododendron, Get Gardening This is a relatively new type of Rhododendron to be available from U.K garden centres, and is totally different from what you expect a Rhododendron to be. Bred by crossing two species of Rhododendron, hirsutum with micranthum, to produce a very hardy dwarfing species that is tolerant of alkaline soil types. Hardy to minus 20oC, has a leaf like that of a Buxus but produces masses of lightly scented pale pink flowers. The bees love it. This Rhododendron will grow happily in a full sun or partial shade position but does prefer to be kept on the moist side.
