Allium Summer Drummer, the tallest of the ornamental onions and loved by insect pollinators

Allium Summer Drummer is the tallest of all ornamental onions and a wonderful plant if you want to add interest to the garden creating a vertical focal point. It is very easy to grow in well drained soil and full sun, and like all Alliums, is very much loved by insect pollinators. The flowers are not fragrant but are great as cut flowers, however if you leave the flowers on the plant, better staking the very tall stems otherwise, as in my case, they can fall over nearby plants.
