A lovely song from Joe Cocker written by Randy Newman! Arthur Barrow plays the bass on this song and he does a fine job! He plays the bass realy relaxed. Listen for instance at the licks in intro (bar 1-4). But listen especially at those same licks in the Bridge (bar 69-75). There it’s played really laid back. And there are some very beautiful double stops in this song (bar 16; 34; 60)! The maingroove (for instance bar 5) is really fun to play. Also played laid back, and the ‘secret’ here is the slide towards the E note and play the E, G and A notes staccato (short). If you want to practice playing a song laid back, this is the song to do so! I’ve had much fun rehearsing this bassline.
