Happy new year! First test of the new year (and new decade)! Originally, I was planning on filming this today, but I got a vibe it wouldn&work. Well, I was wrong; and ironically, the siren I ended up going to (one of the ones that normally always works) ended up failing. Oh well. I believe I am the first on YouTube to get a high quality, up-close recording of one of these rare prototype 1212&running on their original (and very rare) EOWS*C/B analog controller in the wild. These controllers pre-dated the SiraTone and were also prototypical in nature. I believe these were the first electronic outdoor warning sirens Federal manufactured. Despite a few pitch fluctuations, this one seems to be holding up pretty well and eventually reaches peak pitch near the end of the test. These sirens were part of a rushed order of sirens made for the planned Zimmer Nuclear Plant and later were sold or moved to nearby areas when the plant&owners abandoned the idea of nuclear energy due to backlash. The plant&owners subsequently converted the plant to coal generation; thus an EPZ was no longer necessary. Only about 4 or 5 of these sirens are left in operation in Ohio and Kentucky, however that number may be less now; as many have fallen into states of disrepair, and one in Ohio was struck by lightning last year, frying the controls and internals of the siren. I&definitely be getting a video of this siren very soon hopefully. Enjoy! Clermont County tests their warning sirens on the First...
