Greetings All, Yet another how you might do something to your Red Ryder video from Restomod Daisy. Or not. The one thing you probably ought to do if you get to fiddling around with these American classics is to get it in your head that a new mainspring is a fundamental improvement. Springs have lifetimes and after X number of compression&they are at the end of their service lives and should be replaced. While you&messing with spring replacement you might as well replace the compression cup and the abutment seal with new Daisy parts. There&a lot of debate as to the effectiveness of the original leather seals versus the newer seals but I&of the opinion that the new seals do a better job. It&your gun, so it&your choice. This particular Model 40 is one of four units I&be converting to the newest Restomod product, The Restomod Daisy Model 40/27 for testing purposes as a candidate for an open class Balloon Buster Competition Model. In my search for a shorter lever throw to speed up the firing cycle I discovered that the sliding spring anchor from a Daisy Model 27 will function in the low pivot Model 40 receiver with only a few hours of hand filing and head scratching. When I&done I believe that the resulting gun will be lighting fast from the shoulder as well as putting on a pretty reasonable show when used in the Chuck Connnors fire from the hip section of the match. Time and testing will tell that story and it can be heard and seen here at Restomod Daisy. Thanks for...
