The water pump in the Toyota 1.8-liter four-cylinder 1zz-fe is located on the outside of the timing cover. It is driven by the accessory belt. It can be removed and replaced simply by removing the accessory belt then unfastening the six bolts that hold the pump to the timing cover. In this video we review the differences in flange thickness between different models of 1zz-fe that require bolts of different length for the water pump, depending on the application. This information is included as a techinical bulleting with the Aisin brand pump which is the original equipment brand.
